MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — If there is anybody who knows what it’s like to miss the uprights in a crucial situation, it’s Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh.
While not as (seemingly) crucial as Walsh’s field goal miss, New England Patriots’ kicker Stephen Gostkowski missed an extra point during the AFC Championship game. It was his first extra point miss in nine years.
The Patriots ended up losing by only two points. Had they scored the extra point earlier, they’d only need to kick an extra point — after they scored a last-minute touchdown — to send the game into overtime. But that didn’t happen.
So, on Sunday, Walsh sent Gostkowski some kind words of encouragement Gostkowski’s way:
Gostkowski is one of the best in the league. It's a TEAM game! Credit to Denver for the great win.

Classy move, Walsh!
